Head of Procurement

At Swegon, we are seeking an experienced, proven, and dynamic Procurement and Supply Chain Leader who will add significant value, strategic direction, planning, and best practice execution to support the growth and development objectives of the business. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be based at either our Snodland or Whitstable sites, travelling between.

Position Summary:

The Head of Procurement & Supply Chain remit will be to shape, guide and drive forward the creation of a world class supply chain operation in the UK & Ireland in accordance with Swegon UK&I’s overall strategy and business plan to cement the region as one of the most prominent “Stronghold” geographies for Swegon Group in the future.

You’ll be able to make a significant impact by raising the profile of procurement and supply chain across the business. Developing an industry leading procurement function and winning over your local stakeholders, you’ll unlock the opportunity to integrate and harmonise supply chain activity across our group of businesses.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Develop a Procurement and Supply chain strategy across the organisation, focused primarily on our factories in Whitstable and Vantage Point, Snodland
• Support and steer the ERP consolidation programme across the business, ensuring the organisation adopt best in class processes
• Devise programs and projects to add value and raise efficiency through; supplier rationalisation, contract and agreement negotiation, optimised material flow and inventory control
• Build, motivate and lead a high performing procurement, supply chain, stores and planning team developing them to be operationally efficient and scalable to meet the changing needs of the business
• Lead supplier relationships and drive improvement strategies to ensure resilience, high quality and cost competitive supply
• Provide inspirational and effective leadership within the procurement and supply chain function, assuming overall responsibility for purchasing activities across the business
• Guiding and coaching supply chain projects, setting priorities, delegating responsibility, and developing policies and procedures
• Develop strategic sourcing plans, including; “make/buy” decisions, insourcing within Swegon group and risk mitigation measures
• Supply chain stakeholder in cross functional collaborative projects working with commercial and engineering teams to support, design for manufacture, cost down and new product introduction. Increasing margins, improving sustainability, and reducing time to market
• Act as a role model of professional procurement practice, delivering pragmatic and high-quality solutions to meet the needs of the organisation
• Collaborate and share best practice with other procurement leaders across the Swegon group of companies
• Own the Evaluation of supplier performance through data compilation and analysis, promote active engagement with the vendor base via regular supplier review and feedback sessions. Oversee the performance management of key suppliers ensuring a strong focus on quality, delivery, and value.
• Point of escalation for the resolution of commercial issues within the supply chain.
• Lead CIP workshops focused on Supply Chain and Materials Management.

Experience:

• Experienced ERP super user, optimising supply chain, inventory control and material flow transactions, able to support and guide efficient flow of information and reporting
• An excellent communicator with the ability to build strong and trusting relationships
• Comfortable with leading teams and driving KPI’s with clear focus and sense of ownership
• Strategic Project and Program management experience supported by an established background in supplier and contract management
• Extensive operational experience within a relevant industry or sector, ideally working for a medium/large scale business in an international group
• Track-record demonstrating high standards and ethics in the pursuit of customer satisfaction and product quality
• Project Management and Leadership
• You will need to be persuasive, have a strong continuous improvement mindset, and have proven experience of dealing with diverse internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

• Degree in purchasing or equivalent in a related discipline
• Qualified purchasing professional (MCIPS) with significant relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience of leading a cross business unit team
• Experience in developing compelling business propositions with a systems approach
