The service you will work in….

Reporting to the Executive Director - Finance, the Head of Housing Service delivers strategic income services and oversight to help maximise organisational rental and service charge income and minimise losses.

The Housing Services team works collaboratively with colleagues in accommodation based services to support service users avoid arrears and maintain their tenancies. The team also provides locally based health, safety and property assistance.

A day in this role looks like….

As Head of Housing Service at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Central Services. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To manage the Housing Services team, including recruitment, appraisal and supervision.
  • To develop rental income and housing management policies and procedures for Hestia that supports the delivery of excellent housing management services, minimises arrears and sustains tenancies.
  • To build strong relationships with Local Authority HB departments to minimise queries and maximise recovery.
  • Review service charges for new projects and annually as part of the rent increase process and liaise with RP partners and Local Authority HB departments to ensure these are approved.
  • To manage the annual rent increase process ensuring all service users receive timely increases and HB departments receive all the information they require in their timescales.
  • To provide training, guidance material and advice to staff on; licence and tenancy agreements; HB and UC applications and arrears collection processes.
  • To provide monitoring information to Hestia's Directors on arrears performance.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Appropriate Housing qualifications.
  • Recent relevant training courses undertaken e.g. UC, welfare benefits.
  • At least 5 years of Revenue Management experience gained in a local authority, Registered Provider or Housing Charity.
  • Experience of managing dispersed teams – recruitment, supervision and appraisal.
  • Experience of performance management – setting targets and monitoring outcomes.
  • Experience of working in supported housing across a section of client groups.
  • Experience of developing and impending relevant policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of the legislation and best practice around rents and service charges.
  • Detailed knowledge of HB and UC legislation processes.
  • Understanding of County Court and Small Claims processes.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to provide targeted training and support to front line staff.
