Duration- 6 months

Role Description:

The L3 iSeries Support Administrator will play a critical role in maintaining the stability of business systems across the IBM estate. The primary focus will be on resolving incidents in a timely manner, ensuring system health, and meeting service level agreements (SLAs). The role requires close collaboration with the OSB Service Desk and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations, manage system changes, and track live issues.

This position acts as the gatekeeper of the production environment, ensuring that all system changes have a positive impact and that the operational infrastructure remains stable and secure. Additionally, the administrator will be responsible for building and maintaining a team knowledge base, mentoring junior staff, and working on continuous improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Incident Management: Handle all support requests raised to the team, ensuring timely resolution within SLAs.
  2. System Monitoring: Monitor tickets, conduct daily system health checks, and lead incident resolution calls.
  3. Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain an accessible knowledge base for the team, particularly for junior members.
  4. Post-Implementation Sign-Off: Obtain business sign-off after successful delivery into production.
  5. System Monitoring: Oversee IBM estate applications (e.g., BRMS, replication tools) and ensure compliance with DR policies.
  6. Audit & Compliance: Liaise with auditors, manage documentation, and fulfill information requests.
  7. Change Management: Ensure all Change Requests (CRs) and project deliverables are met within agreed timelines.
  8. Tool Maintenance: Maintain and refine the Halcyon message alerting tool, Advanced Job Scheduler, and SIEM Agent security tool.
  9. Process Improvements: Drive process enhancements, automate manual tasks, and mentor L2 and L3 administrators.
  10. Operations Support: Ensure smooth functioning of key processes like tax year-end, financial year-end, and month-end activities, particularly in mortgage systems.

Key Skills/Experience:

  1. iSeries/AS400 Expertise: Robust understanding of iSeries/AS400 systems is essential.
  2. Incident & Problem Management: Strong experience in managing incidents and resolving recurring problems is required.
  3. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with UK mortgage or savings products is beneficial.
  4. Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly for root cause analysis, are essential.
  5. Service Desk Tools: Experience working with service desk tools is essential.
  6. Software Proficiency: Intermediate knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is beneficial.
  7. Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of infrastructure, desktop, and web applications is beneficial.
  8. Certifications: iSeries/IBM qualifications, ITIL® Foundation Certification, and technical IT training are beneficial.
