Job Title: iSeries Infrastructure Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced iSeries Support Administrator to join our team at Stack Digital. As an iSeries Infrastructure Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining the stability of our business systems across the IBM estate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incident Management: Handle all support requests raised to the team, ensuring timely resolution within service level agreements.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor tickets, conduct daily system health checks, and lead incident resolution calls.
  • Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain an accessible knowledge base for the team, particularly for junior members.
  • Post-Implementation Sign-Off: Obtain business sign-off after successful delivery into production.
  • System Monitoring: Oversee IBM estate applications (e.g., BRMS, replication tools) and ensure compliance with disaster recovery policies.
  • Audit & Compliance: Liaise with auditors, manage documentation, and fulfill information requests.
  • Change Management: Ensure all Change Requests (CRs) and project deliverables are met within agreed timelines.
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain and refine the Halcyon message alerting tool, Advanced Job Scheduler, and SIEM Agent security tool.
  • Process Improvements: Drive process enhancements, automate manual tasks, and mentor L2 and L3 administrators.
  • Operations Support: Ensure smooth functioning of key processes like tax year-end, financial year-end, and month-end activities, particularly in mortgage systems.

Requirements:

  • iSeries/AS400 Expertise: Robust understanding of iSeries/AS400 systems is essential.
  • Incident & Problem Management: Strong experience in managing incidents and resolving recurring problems is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with UK mortgage or savings products is beneficial.
  • Troubleshooting: Strong troubleshooting skills, particularly for root cause analysis, are essential.
  • Service Desk Tools: Experience working with service desk tools is essential.
  • Software Proficiency: Intermediate knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is beneficial.
  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of infrastructure, desktop, and web applications is beneficial.
  • Certifications: iSeries/IBM qualifications, ITIL Foundation Certification, and technical IT training are beneficial.

  • Client-Facing Role: Strong communication skills are essential for liaising with clients, internal stakeholders, and third-party suppliers.
  • Collaboration: Demonstrates a supportive, team-oriented approach, with the ability to mentor junior staff and drive process improvements.
