Job Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly skilled and experienced Head of Operations & Logistics to join our production team. The main task is to oversee and optimise our production and supply chain processes. This role is vital to ensuring our operations run to the highest standards of quality, efficiency and hygiene. You will lead a dedicated production team, manage daily production and supply chain operations, and play a key role in our continued growth and success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Management:
- Bottling Operations - Oversee the production team, set daily priorities, and ensure efficient operations. Maintain high standards of hygiene and quality control, conduct regular batch tastings, and document production data comprehensively.
- Canning Operations: Supervise canning operations in both the UK, US and EU, ensuring production readiness and managing canning schedules.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers and distributors, and collaborate with sales teams to forecast needs and plan logistics.
- Supply Chain and Inventory Management: Ensure a consistent supply of materials, negotiate competitive pricing, and monitor supplier lead times. Regularly audit suppliers, update COGS, and explore new supply routes. Maintain stock levels for all supplies, including ingredients, packaging materials, and office supplies.
- Order and Distribution Management: Explore new supply routes, oversee order fulfilment processes, including Shopify orders and shipment paperwork. Manage FDA certification for US shipments and coordinate event shipments. Ensure all orders are processed efficiently and accurately.
- Financial Management: Manage production OPEX and CAPEX, process invoices, update COGS, and handle R&D and grant claims. Ensure the financial health of the production unit. Propose Capex investments in order to optimise production.
- Team Leadership and Development: Maintain high team morale, set daily team priorities, ensure efficient operations, provide training and development opportunities, and prepare the team for audits. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and drive operational efficiencies. Troubleshoot equipment failures and maintain a robust traceability and recall system.
- Strategic Planning: Work closely with the founder and other senior leaders to align operational strategies with business goals. Participate in management and contribute to strategic discussions and decision-making. Create weekly performance updates, focussed on set KPI’s.
Qualifications:
- Minimum required education level : Bachelor Degree
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in food production or logistics.
- Knowledge of logistics and supplychain management
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Loyal hardworking independent person with good communication skills and high work ethic.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to maintain high standards of hygiene and quality control.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Experience with finance management, including budgeting and cost control.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for food production and distribution.
- Ability to work closely with various teams and contribute to strategic discussions.
