A Mid-Level Applications Support Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring system reliability, optimizing user support, and contributing to the overall health of an organizations IT infrastructure. They bridge the gap between entry-level support staff and senior IT professionals, actively participating in complex problem-solving and often specializing in specific technologies or product areas. Their autonomy increases, and they focus on improving support procedures and contributing to customer success while independently resolving intricate technical issues.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Provide technical support and assistance to end users of software applications.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with software applications, using diagnostic tools, log analysis, and root cause analysis.
Maintain and optimize the software system by managing code migration, documenting configuration changes, and scheduling application updates.
Automate business processes and workflows using scripting languages and tools.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other IT staff.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge
Must have:
Contribute to software development projects by writing, testing, and debugging code, under the guidance of senior team members.
Collaborate with the team to meet project objectives, actively participating in code reviews and design discussions.
Assist in the documentation of software requirements and specifications, striving for clear and effective communication.
Participate in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, seeking guidance and mentorship.
Learn and adapt to software development practices and methodologies, actively participating in training programs.
Contribute to the implementation of best practices and emerging technologies.
Collaborate with team members to enhance your understanding of software architecture and design.
Contribute to the team's knowledge sharing and learning environment.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e., Computer Science) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Relevant experience, typically 1+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
Proficiency in 1 or more software languages and development methodologies.
Basic coding and debugging skills.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Strong problem-solving mindset.
Willingness to learn and adapt to the field.
Other Qualifications
Advanced degree in a related field is a plus
Relevant certifications or training is a plus
PowerShell
SQL
Customers and Key Stakeholders
Work with AMS leadership to ensure Service Line goals and objectives are reached.
Work with Technical Leadership to ensure technical processes are followed.
Work with Service Management Capability to ensure SLAs are achieved, and ITIL processes are followed.
Work with other service lines (ITO, Networks, Citrix) to ensure issues are resolved and changes implemented on time.
Work with other vendors and suppliers where applicable to ensure ecosystem engagement and escalation processes are followed.
Work with our customer to ensure their expectations of service are achieved.
