The Further Education College in Harrow, renowned for its dedication to inclusive education, is seeking an exceptional leader for the role of SENCO. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of SEND students who are enrolled in both mainstream and bespoke programs.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Strategic Development: Collaborate with the Assistant Director to develop and manage SEND provision in alignment with the College’s strategic objectives.
•    Team Management: Lead a dedicated team in delivering Learning Support for SEND learners and staff, including support for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
•    EHCP Management: Oversee the administration, application, enrolment, and provision of support for students with EHCPs, including budgetary needs for High Needs students.
•    Funding Management: Assist in managing additional support funding claims across the College and externally from local authorities, representing the College as the SENCO.

Qualifications:
•    Degree or Equivalent: A degree or equivalent level qualification.
•    Teaching Qualification: Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognized by the FE sector (e.g., PGCE/DET).
•    SEN Qualification: A SEN qualification or a willingness to undertake one, such as the National Award for SEN Coordination.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
•    SEN Expertise: Experience in SEN teaching and learning support delivery in a cross-College setting.
•    SEN Code of Practice: Good working knowledge of the 2014 SEN Code of Practice.
•    Funding Knowledge: Understanding of funding methodology in Learning Support.
•    Government Initiatives: Awareness of recent government initiatives related to SEN.
•    Comprehensive Support Delivery: Ability to deliver across the learning support spectrum.
•    Equality and Safeguarding: Understanding of Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding in education.
•    Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
•    Team Leadership: Proven experience in successfully managing and leading a team.
•    Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing circumstances.
•    IT Proficiency: Good IT skills, including experience with databases.
•    Financial Acumen: Experience in meeting financial targets and overseeing budgets.

Personal Attributes:
•    Initiative: Ability to work under own initiative.
•    Empathy: Capacity to respond to the emotional as well as the educational and physical needs of individual students.
•    Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate staff effectively.
