The is a great opportunity to join Perenco UK where the successful candidate will be integral to leading our Decommissioning team and be responsible for the strategic planning, control and execution of decommissioning activities for all Perenco UK’s SNS assets.


The role will require strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, working with internal departments, management, appointed contractor, regulators, and UK Government bodies.

You will develop, control and execute safe, environmentally sound, efficient and cost-effective decommissioning programs and ensure the activities within the program are completed in a timely and efficient manner in compliance with HSE and Quality procedures.


This is a staff position working Monday to Friday, based in our Norwich office, however the role may require periodic travel to other locations.


Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Lead the preparation of installation and pipeline Decommissioning Programmes (DP’s), Comparative Assessments, Transfer of Installation and Well Operatorship documentation (for assets transitioning to a Decommissioning Operator), close out reports and other such documentation as required for decommissioning projects.
  • Guide the development of decommissioning strategies, seeking synergies across different fields, and implementing long term plans to drive full-cycle decommissioning cost savings.
  • Work with the business to deliver cost efficient decommissioning.
  • Lead the interface and develop a strong relationship with the key decommissioning regulators including within NSTA, BEIS/ODU and the Health & Safety Executive.
  • Function as main point of contact, and Perenco UK representative, with regulatory bodies, partners, and other stakeholders for decommissioning compliance related matters, including management of supporting documentation such as presentations, quarterly update reports, etc.
  • Guide the assurance process for the transition of operatorship of Perenco assets to specialist decommissioning operator(s).
  • Accountable for obtaining necessary permits for decommissioning activities in the UK North Sea.
  • Responsible for preparation of cost estimates, budgets and AFE’s for decommissioning activities.
  • Plan, coordinate and control the execution of the decommissioning projects within time and cost constraints and in compliance with HSE and Quality procedures.
  • Manage in-house resources as well as coordinating key subcontractor partners in delivery of integrated decommissioning projects.
  • Provide technical/project leadership in support of decommissioning activities delivery.
  • Responsible for decommissioning activities planning and executing projects ensuring that Perenco internal business targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for driving adherence to project cost and schedule commitments holding each work stream accountable to deliver.
  • Responsible for the management of project interfaces, project risk, weekly project reporting & monthly project reporting, inclusive of cost and schedule information.
  • Accountable for preparation and management of various subcontractor scopes of work and contracts. Accountable for the execution of contracts.
  • Steer the decommissioning team to changes to practice in favour of improving efficiency of decommissioning processes. Follow-up of department activities and recommend changes or adaptations whenever required.
  • Actively ensure Lessons Learned are communicated throughout all project teams.


Safety & Environmentally Critical Tasks:

Ensure that decommissioning activities are delivered with a clear focus on Quality and in a way that meets HSE regulatory requirements and adheres to company policies on Health & Safety, the Environment, Business Ethics, etc.


Requirements:


  • Experience in decommissioning operations, or alternative relevant installation projects / operations, in the oil & gas industry (offshore), covering both installations and pipelines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to UK oil and gas decommissioning activities and the subtlety of this – will be a strong asset.
  • Experience preparing and managing decommissioning programme submission for installations and pipelines, and the associated strategies for gaining approval of such programmes.
  • Experience in project management / subcontractor management, familiar with various project management tools, skilled in project planning, control, execution, close-out activities.
  • Offshore experience preferred from heavy lift installation / decommissioning projects working as (structural) project engineer / field engineer / client representative / or similar. Understanding of the Subsea industry with a bias toward decommissioning of subsea assets is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to interact with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective leadership skills, ability to effectively steer and guide the team.
