The post continues to build on this learning and embed a formal matrix communication and PR function working between the Public Health division managed by the Head of Office and the Corporate Communications function accountable within the communication structure.We are looking for a PR and Communications Support Officer who will be able to assist and work to the Senior Officer and to support the wider Public Health team here at Birmingham City Council. This role will report to the Senior Officer. The role focuses on the delivery of Public Health campaign across various channels. Birmingham has a growing reputation on an international stage for its role in responding to health inequalities and improving the lives of its citizens.The team works with a wide range of stakeholders to improve health and wellbeing including internal directorates Integrated Care System NHS trusts the third sector and commissioned services.What we are looking for:You will have experience of working flexibly proactively in a matrix way to ensure business objectives are metExperience in engaging with a wide audience through social media channels and other social marketing methodsExperience or a keen interest in understanding Public Health priorities and the relevant policy environmentAbility to manage projects and knowledge on scoping projects stating aims objectives and milestones underpinned by effective IT skillsExperience of identifying and analysing a wide range of data sets and other intelligence to inform work and communicating information and concepts to a diversity of audiencesPreparing reports and presentations through collation and analysis of data to inform decision makingPlanning and organising events meetings and workshops from design stage to implementationSound communication skills including the ability to make use of different types of social mediaAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing demandsAbility to work flexibly as part of a diverse team providing cover when needed to ensure continuity of service provisionA motivated and enthusiastic self -starter that is willing to learn new concepts and take on additional learning and training where requiredInterviews for this post will take place in-person at the Council House Complex in January 2026For any informal enquires please contact: Resourcing@Please upload your up-to-date CV via the attachments part of your application this is required for shortlisting.
