Vacancy: Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Are you a safeguarding professional passionate about protecting and empowering young people? We are looking for an experienced and qualified Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our team and lead our safeguarding efforts across two vibrant sites.


This is a full-time role, offering a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference while working with a dedicated team committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people.


Position Details

  • Job Title: Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Location: Based at either of our two sites, with flexibility as required
  • Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (12 month contract)

About the Role

As the Designated Safeguarding Lead, you will play a vital role in maintaining and promoting a safe environment for all young people in our care. You will:


  • Lead Safeguarding Efforts: Be the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing guidance, support, and decisive action when required.
  • Manage Cases: Oversee safeguarding cases, working closely with external agencies such as local authorities, social services, police, and healthcare providers.
  • Support and Train Staff: Deliver safeguarding training to staff and provide ongoing advice to ensure a proactive safeguarding culture.
  • Policy Development: Regularly update safeguarding policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with families, children, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective safeguarding responses.


What We’re Looking For


Essential Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised DSL qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working as a DSL, with a proven track record of managing safeguarding cases effectively.
  • Full-time availability, with the ability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.


Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

While not essential, the following are highly desirable:

  • Social Work Registration to bring an added layer of expertise to safeguarding practices.
  • A full driving license with business insurance to enable flexibility and ease of travel between our sites and off-site meetings.
