Job Description

This exciting opportunity exists for a Head of Safeguarding and Pastoral Support to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective management and leadership of statutory safeguarding arrangements, ensuring compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024) guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development, planning, delivery, and monitoring of student support and experience initiatives
  • Collaborating with staff to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting any incidents or concerns to relevant authorities
  • Conducting risk assessments and developing strategies to mitigate potential threats
  • Fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, including students, parents, and local authorities

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree-level qualification or relevant industrial experience
  • Recognised teaching qualification
  • Numeracy and literacy skills at level 2 or equivalent
  • Experience of leading safeguarding arrangements in an education setting
  • Exceptional knowledge of working with vulnerable students and assessing safeguarding needs
  • Credibility in advising on safeguarding matters and supervising staff
  • Proven track record of managing risk factors and providing effective 'Early Help' interventions
  • Experience in quality assurance and control processes, particularly SAR procedures and business planning
  • Ability to manage large teams and develop curriculum initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal leadership skills
