The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (“the College”) seeks to appoint an experienced Membership Manager to manage our membership function. The post holder will ensure existing Members and Fellows receive the highest levels of customer service, grow the College community by increasing Membership and Fellowship, and promote the value and benefits of belonging to the College to physicians and their teams, both in the UK and internationally.

The College is a professional membership organisation and registered charity, which supports the medical profession to deliver the gold standard in healthcare provision. We have a network of over 14,500 members worldwide and help hospital doctors throughout their careers through leading an effective and supportive physicians’ community as well as providing our world-renowned education and training programme which helps qualified doctors pursue their careers in specialist medicine.


The Role

This is a new role in the department of Global Engagement. Please refer to the Job Description for full details.

Key responsibilities include:

·       Ensure ongoing relevance and impact of the Membership/Fellowship offer to current and future physicians and their teams.

·       Build upon our active Membership and Fellowship and ensure membership recruitment and retention targets are met.

·       Act as line manager for seven members of staff

·       Champion the value of membership through engaging with all departments to ensure opportunities to retain, convert and recruit Members and Fellows are maximised.

·       Develop management reports for key governance groups to ensure high quality decision making

·       Lead the delivery of the College’s Annual Meetings, including any extraordinary meetings

 

Person Specification

·       Demonstrable experience in managing people and teams and working across multidisciplinary groups.

·       A proven track record of delivering positive results in a membership environment.

·       An experienced and advanced user of Customer Relationship Management systems.

·       Experience of development and delivery of strategic and operational plans.

·       Experience in supporting committees/project teams to deliver strategic and operational goals.

·       Experience in the management of a high volume and internationally focused customer service operation.

·       Demonstrable experience of managing resources and budgets.

·       Strong leadership, presentation and communication skills.

·       Self-aware and self-confident with a genuine capacity for personal development.

·       High degree of skill in cultivating long-term relationships and strategic partnerships.

·       Ability to spot opportunities and to take initiative to transform ideas into action.


Remuneration Package

The salary for this role will be £49,383 per annum plus benefits. Additional benefits include:

·       Pension: with employer contributions of 9%.

·       Holidays: 23 days’ annual leave (with incremental increase over five years to 28 days) and 11 days’ public holiday/College close downs.

·       Life assurance scheme.

·       Long-term income protection scheme for those unable to work due to illness.

·       Cycle to Work scheme.

·       Discounted rates for use of the venue for personal events.
