OVERVIEW


We are seeking a dynamic Retention Strategist who will play a pivotal role in our agency. This is a client-facing position that requires a deep understanding of email and retention marketing, as well as a broader knowledge of e-commerce. As the leader of a pod within the agency, you will work closely with email specialists, copywriters, and designers to deliver exceptional results for our clients.


You will manage up to 8 six/seven figure accounts and optimise our email marketing campaigns using the Klaviyo platform, playing a key role in developing and implementing strategies to enhance customer engagement, drive sales, and maximize the effectiveness of our email, sms, direct mail marketing initiatives.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Client Strategy Leadership: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, advising them not only on email marketing but also on broader business strategies that enhance overall growth and retention.
  • Cohort Analysis & LTV Optimization: Analyze customer cohorts and optimize lifetime value by developing and implementing strategies that drive customer retention and repeat purchases.
  • Campaign & Flow Briefing: Create detailed briefs for email flows and campaigns, ensuring clarity and alignment across all teams involved in execution.
  • Reporting & Insights: Generate monthly and quarterly reports with a high degree of accuracy, analyzing data from multiple sources to draw actionable insights, hypotheses, and strategic recommendations.
  • A/B Testing: Develop and oversee A/B testing strategies to continuously improve account performance.
  • Segmentation Strategies: Craft and implement relevant and advanced segmentation strategies to ensure effective email marketing campaigns.
  • KPI Analysis: Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of email marketing efforts, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

3. Attention to Detail:

Accuracy and consistency are critical in this role, especially when handling complex data and reporting. A keen eye for detail will ensure that:

  • Reports and analyses are meticulously prepared, with all data points accurately represented and validated.
  • All client deliverables, including campaign briefs and flow strategies, are thoroughly reviewed to maintain high standards of quality.
  • Errors are identified and corrected proactively, ensuring that the work delivered is always of the highest caliber.


4. Proactive Problem-Solving:

We’re looking for a strategist who anticipates challenges and addresses them head-on with well-thought-out solutions. This involves:

  • Identifying potential issues before they arise and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborating with clients and team members to troubleshoot problems and find effective resolutions.
  • Continuously seeking opportunities to optimize processes, improve performance, and drive better results for our clients.

Your Day-to-day will look like -


  • Always come prepared for client meetings, team interactions, and individual tasks, ensuring that you bring valuable insights and strategic thinking to every conversation.
  • Accurately and effectively articulate account performance, aligning results with the client’s growth targets. You anticipate client needs, address issues proactively, and develop innovative solutions that drive success.
  • Work closely with copywriters to ensure that emails are crafted according to the strategic angle you’ve defined. Collaboration with designers and technical implementors will be crucial to ensure all elements are built and executed to spec.
  • Engage with project managers to ensure that the overall strategy is consistently aligned with the clients' goals, making necessary adjustments as needed to stay on track.
  • Track client pacing bi-weekly in relation to their growth targets, identifying areas for adjustment and optimization. Produce detailed monthly reports on account performance and plan strategic roadmaps on a quarterly basis.
  • Establish strong, trust-based relationships with clients by consistently delivering on your promises and exceeding expectations. Your ability to earn and maintain client trust is key to your success.
  • Constantly seek out and implement new efficiencies, metrics, or strategies to optimize performance and meet the client's revenue goals and KPIs.



Qualifications/Requirements


  • Minimum 2+ years in a retention or email marketing role, with a strong preference for experience in a DTC e-commerce environment. Agency experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in Klaviyo, with familiarity in tools like Shopify, Google Analytics, and other analytics platforms (e.g., Lifetimely, Peel, Northbeam). Basic understanding of copywriting is beneficial for creating clear and effective briefs.
  • Experience in managing client relationships, particularly in high-stakes environments where you’re handling six or seven-figure accounts.
  • Previous experience leading a team or managing cross-functional projects, with a demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.
  • Excellent written and spoken English language.
