About the job you’re considering
Your Career
You will use your domain knowledge and expert technical skills to truly understand and solve the challenges faced by our clients, who are all world leading companies in science and technology. Your activities will vary from project to project, but will broadly involve data science and software engineering, from analysing and interpreting client data to building AI models enabling in-silico evaluation of our clients problems to developing bespoke software solutions in a range of programming languages. Projects themselves are varied, from developing smarter drug trials to controlling the orbit and attitude of satellites.
You will need to build excellent relationships to collaborate with colleagues and enthusiastically engage with clients. We recruit a lot of graduates and PhDs, and they will be looking to you for mentoring and technical guidance as they start their careers with us. Project team sizes are typically small and durations are relatively short, so you will make a big impact and quickly gain experience across different domains, allowing you to apply innovative thinking and transferable skills to solve fresh challenges.
Your Future
The key to our success is the quality of our staff. We value your academic background as well as your technical skills. We are not tied to any particular technologies and we use the most appropriate ones for each project. We will invest in you to build on your existing skills and develop new ones. You will have access to extensive training throughout your career and many courses often lead to recognised qualifications.
Working on our projects is hugely rewarding and you will never stop learning and developing. With support from your manager, you will shape your own career, and we will help you develop the skills you need to achieve your ambitions. Career paths can be focused on technology, domain expertise or people management, or a combination of these.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your role
We are looking for a creative problem solver with an excellent academic record in science, mathematics or engineering resulting in an MSc or PhD. Though not essential, we value PhDs and we recognise and reward the additional skills they bring. You should have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable explaining complex concepts to clients and colleagues from all backgrounds.
You should understand and enjoy programming in Pythonand be able to write a fewlines of code. You should also know how various data science techniques, from statistics to machine learning, are used to interpret complex data.
You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini, stiving for equity, diversity and inclusion is part of everyday life, and will be part of your working reality. We have built an inclusive and welcoming environment, for everyone.
Our Culture
We are proud of our amazing culture, where a positive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning are valued. The wellbeing and engagement of all staff is our priority, and we work in a collaborative and supportive environment with a good work-life balance. As well as a competitive starting salary, we offer a range of benefits, which you can select to fit your needs.
We encourage flexible working and we trust staff to balance the needs of their projects with their personal commitments. Sometimes you will be required to work on client sites, which are usually within easy reach of your base location. Sometimes you will dial in to remote meetings with a geographically dispersed team. At other times there is no substitute for meeting up with colleagues to work together and share ideas.
We are dedicated to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We appreciate individuals for who they are and value the diversity they bring to the workplace.
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.
There are other criteria and checks required for BPSS, and throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality.
