Purpose of the Job:

The successful candidate will control and supervise work tasks for planned and reactive maintenance with support from the building Engineering Supervisor and Shift Leader. They will liaise with Engineering management and client personnel to ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with site policies, procedures, and health and safety legislative requirements.

The candidate will operate as an Authorised Person, ensuring all required safety paperwork is completed to a high standard and aligns with company policies and safe systems of work.

While on-site, the Data Centre Engineer will report to the Engineering Shift Leader and support the shift teams to ensure all works are carried out safely, to a high standard, and within site-specific time constraints. This role involves continental shifts for an experienced HVAP.

Role Summary:

  1. Perform routine maintenance on all building plant, equipment, and systems to meet and exceed expectations and agreed service level agreements.
  2. Respond to Building Management System alarms and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  3. Issue and control Permit to Work systems.
  4. Create and utilize required switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs in line with company policies and SSOW.
  5. Maintain Evaporative Cooling Systems and domestic water systems to comply with L8 standards.
  6. Ensure availability of suitable spares for maintenance tasks.
  7. Keep comprehensive maintenance records via REALM task sheets.
  8. Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all in-house tasks to ensure safe working practices.
  9. Supervise engineering subcontractors to ensure compliance with contractual commitments and site operating processes.
  10. Develop good working relationships with all staff and clients’ staff.
  11. Provide a safe and healthy working environment, ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as client site policies and procedures.
  12. Present a professional image to clients and visitors, delivering and promoting excellence in customer service.
  13. Maintain professional and technical skills through personal development and life-long learning.
  14. Ensure work packs include required documentation, including review of Subcontractor RAMS.
  15. Keep training and personal development up to date.
  16. Foster a strong team culture.
  17. Provide Incident Support for any unplanned incidents/faults on site.
  18. Perform HVAP responsibilities.

Experience / Skillset Required:

  1. Manual Handling Training (advantageous)
  2. HV Authorisation
  3. Current Wiring Regulations certificate
  4. Level 3 NVQ in an associated discipline
  5. Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification
  6. Experience in real-time incident/fault management in a business-critical environment
  7. Demonstrable experience in a similar role within a similar organization
  8. Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations related to maintenance activities.
  9. Good verbal communication skills
  10. Numerate and literate
  11. Diligent in safe working practices
  12. Self-motivated with high personal integrity
  13. Able to work well both independently and in a team
  14. Organized, able to prioritize, and deliver in high-pressure environments.
  15. Courteous and presentable, with exposure to clients at all levels
  16. Ability to ascend and descend vertical access equipment.
  17. Flexibility regarding working hours
  18. PASMA & IPAF certification
  19. Knowledge of multiple interlinked systems (Fire, PMS, BMS)
  20. Takes ownership and accountability
