The Rectory is an award winning boutique restaurant & hotel in the Cotswold village of Crudwell, near Malmesbury, with a sister gastro-pub, The Potting Shed, just across the road.

About the role of Junior Sous Chef

The ideal Junior Sous Chef candidate will have experience in a similar restaurant, be interested in producing great food from the ground up (from in-house butchery to foraging), and be keen to be part of a small, friendly & enthusiastic kitchen team.

Experience at junior sous chef level is desirable, but we are happy to consider applications from strong chefs de partie ready to take the next step.

The role of Junior Sous Chef involves:

  • Running a section of the kitchen on a day to day basis, as well as supporting the head chef & sous chef in moving the kitchen forward.
  • Helping to enact and supervise fantastic food.
  • Excellent stock rotation, cleaning and hygiene practices.
  • Training more junior members of staff.
  • Running the kitchen from time to time in the absence of the head or sous chef.

Hours of work

The role is full-time and salaried for a 48 hours work week but we can be flexible regarding days off, and always offer two days off together.
