Job Title: Site Supervisor

Location: Lancaster

Working Hours: 11am - 7pm

Contract Type: Temporary, up to at least the end of December term if not longer

Our client, a reputable educational institution, is seeking a dedicated and reliable Site Supervisor to contribute to the smooth running of the school premises. As a Site Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality standards of the site, ensuring security, cleanliness, and supervision of the premises and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key holder, ensuring the security procedures for the buildings and grounds are followed.
  • Perform routine and non-routine opening and closing of the premises and respond to emergency situations outside normal working hours.
  • Provide access to premises and classrooms during snow, minor flooding, or other emergencies.
  • Supervise cleaning staff and ensure the premises meet required cleanliness standards.
  • Undertake caretaking and maintenance duties, including cleaning allocated areas, washing walls, and performing basic repairs.
  • Monitor the standards of cleanliness and report any problems or faults to the Premises Manager.
  • Coordinate with the Premises Manager for repairs or maintenance work beyond the capability of site staff.
  • Receive deliveries and distribute them accordingly. Despatch laundry, goods, materials, etc.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of cleaning materials and other supplies.
  • Operate heating plant and carry out frost precaution procedures.
  • Maintain and repair caretaking and cleaning equipment.
  • Carry out routine checks on ancillary equipment, such as fire alarms and water checks.
  • Follow school procedures in the event of emergencies, accidents, or major damage.
  • Test portable electrical equipment if trained and accredited to do so.
  • Undertake letting and related duties as appropriate.
  • Prepare the premises and site for out-of-school activities and clear up afterwards.
  • Occasionally collect miscellaneous provisions away from school premises, where reasonable.
  • Conduct annual stock check of site maintenance equipment.
  • Drive the school minibus as required.
  • Hold a valid First Aid certification.

General Duties:

  • Adhere to school policies and Health and Safety procedures, including risk assessments.
  • Participate fully in the school's appraisal scheme, where appropriate.
  • The Principal and/or Governing Body may vary duties to meet changed circumstances compatible with the post held.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Enhanced DBS clearance is a must.
  • Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, or related roles is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, heating systems, and general repairs.
  • Ability to carry out painting, decorating, and plastering tasks.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A valid driving licence for driving the school minibus, combined with a clean driving record.
