An exciting opportunity has become available for a Press Officer to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.


The role comes with a competitive salary, starting at £36,648 per annum (depending upon experience). The closing date for this role is 13th August at 9am.


The ideal candidate will be collaborative, strategic and relationship-driven.


Key Responsibilities of our Press Officer:

  1. You’ll work closely with the Senior News and Media Officer to generate positive media coverage for the Mayor and the Combined Authority. Your ability to collaborate effectively will enhance their profile and influence across regional, trade, and national media.
  2. You’ll manage day-to-day proactive and reactive press activities aligned with the Combined Authority Corporate Strategy and Forward Plan is crucial. We’re seeking someone who can contribute to successful strategic campaigns.
  3. You’ll build and maintain professional relationships with regional and national journalists across broadcast, digital, and print media is essential. You’ll monitor and evaluate the impact of media coverage for the Combined Authority and Mayor of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.


What we are looking for:

Strong understanding of Central Government, Local Government, and Devolution.

Over 2 years’ experience dealing with media (print, broadcast, online).

Demonstrable experience in public relations, media management, and working effectively with journalists.

Proficiency in crafting press releases, speeches, and other communications materials.

Strong news sense and expertise in pitching to various media outlets.

Familiarity with engaging with Leadership Teams/Senior Officers and handling complex issues.
