As a Repairs Surveyor in East Surrey you would be identifying the cause of domestic repairs, planning and managing work to more complicated repairs issues and to prevent and deal with complaints. This role works closely within the 'early intervention’ procedure to avoid dissatisfaction escalating to claims or formal complaints wherever possible.
Duties for the position of Repairs Surveyor in East Surrey include:
- Responsible for identifying, planning, raising, and organising repairs; production and approval of estimates and work schedules, consultant input and project management.
- Support the swift resolution of customer queries and complaints by proactively investigating on site, finding solutions, following up and owning right through to resolution.
- To inspect properties, solve problems, consult residents, create quotes, specifications and plans, procure/order works and materials, and project manage complex projects including coordination of staff and contractors, supervision on site and post-inspection.
- To be the focal point for inspections to survey and identify repair works and other similar projects, ensuring effective solutions.
- Undertake pre- and post-inspections and deliver ad-hoc surveys including Estate Inspections, TDI inspections, mutual exchanges etc.
- To ensure that detailed records are kept of all customer contacts, surveys, notes and jobs within the correct IT systems to be accessible to the rest of the team.
- Good service and proactive, sensitive communication to customers to resolve complaints, increase satisfaction and ensure satisfactory closure.
- Responsible for compliance with the Section 20 leaseholder consultation procedure.
- To feedback to managers and incorporate into specifications, recommendations for improvements to the service, and participate in implementation.
- Focus on maximising productivity, with the right diagnosis and a 'right first time’ approach.
- To check that accounts and invoices are accurate and to keep managers appraised of budget forecasts. To participate in budget setting and tendering processes.
To apply for for the position of Repairs Surveyor in East Surrey you should have:
- Full driving licence
- The ability to diagnose repairs and instruct works.
- A good financial and commercial understanding.
- Project planning and project management knowledge.
- An inquisitive approach, applying best practice from external sources.
- Ability to use judgement to resolve customer issues and complaints.
- Able to effectively scope and instruct repair works and to advise trade staff and contractors about technical repairs solutions.
- Delivery focussed, positive, assertive and pro-active approach to resolving technical and people issues and identifying improvements or resolutions.
- Apply clear standards flexibly, set priorities and work with the minimum supervision.
- Able to get the best out of trades-staff and contractors using influencing skills beyond own team boundaries, adapting style to needs and building positive relationships.
- Excellent IT systems skills, including using bespoke systems.
- Extensive multi-trade experience
- Able to diagnose repairs and instruct works.
- Previous demonstratable experience in a Surveyor or similar role
