Airbotics Talent are representing a market leading UAV business who are going through a period of growth and scale and looking to further develop their Training function for Operators and Piloting through the recruitment of a Head of Training. Candidates must be based locally to Southampton or be willing and able to relocate to the area.


The Role


As Head of Training your focus will be to initially identify training requirements, through needs analysis, in order to ensure continued improvement in the logistics, data capture and operational efficiency of the flight operations team.


Following on from this, you will be required to develop a training curriculum tailored and designed towards the businesses' needs, with a focus on ground school modules on flight safety, maintenance, operational (theory, simulations, mission planning, execution etc). The program will need to be compliant to the latest regulatory standards.


Once the curriculum is planned and developed, you will be expected to deliver to the flight operations team on a consistent basis with systems created to ensure a successful rollout and continued development.


You will also be required to travel internationally on occasion, supporting those on deployment and imparting knowledge and training support to Team Leaders who, in turn, can deliver boots on the ground training to staff in the field.


The Person


It is essential you have delivered Training specific to the use of drone, unmanned aviation, commercial aviation or military aviation markets. Those without practical experience delivering training in one of these markets unfortunately cannot be considered for this role.


In addition to this, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 3 year's experience creating and delivering Training
  • Demonstrable experience of upskilling and development of Flight Operations teams through effective training
  • CAA permitted pilot with practical experience flying unmanned systems domestically in the UK, and preferably internationally
  • It is not essential, but candidates with experience operating or training teams across technical applications (ie. transportation, energy, inspection, surveillance, air logistics etc) would be preferred
  • A strong and articulate communicator
