Senior Test Engineer

Role Purpose (Job Profile): As a Senior Test Engineer you will play a vital role in the verification and validation of a wide range of technology on the car. You will lead the specification and execution of tests to ensure that we maximise the performance of the car and achieve the highest levels of reliability. Working with the engineering teams around the business you will help to accelerate our rate of car development by delivering new test methods and capability. Main Duties: Design commission and execute tests on a wide variety of platforms including HiL transmission and VTT dyno brake dyno eight-post rig fuel cooling and structural test rigs. Lead the delivery of cutting-edge test capability to support the development of car systems and verification of car hardware. Define requirements for the engineering design control and data acquisition systems to support the test methodology. Manage the delivery of complex projects to challenging deadlines and ensure adherence to budget. Lead and represent the department at off-site testing including FIA crash testing K&C CofG and other on or off-track events. Drive the development of our validation and verification processes by harnessing new technology or methods to improve quality of our work and reduce the time taken to bring performance to the track. Steer the development of our data handling telemetry and reporting tools to allow realtime analysis of data and concise post-event reports Define requirements for the engineering Design Electronics and Control systems teams who will support delivery of T&V projects. Work closely with the engineering teams to develop fast and efficient test programmes test methodology and capability which accelerate the development loop. Provide the guidance and leadership needed to develop Test Engineers and Test Technicians Uphold the highest level of quality by supporting the development of a quality framework and using our existing quality control tools. Be proactive in maintaining the highest levels of safety and contribute towards a culture of safety Key Accountabilities: Fulfil all organisational expectations including but not limited to the following: Understand and work in line with Williams Values & Behaviours encouraging others to do the same. Ensure understanding of and compliance with health and safety obligations. Maintain personal high standards of behaviour and conduct being a positive ambassador for the department. Work to quality standards and identify and contribute ways to continuously improve department and personal performance. Ensure understanding of cost cap rules and requirements. Core Competencies: Specialist knowledge in the specification design and delivery of complex test capability and methods typically employed in the development and verification of Formula One car systems. Ability to work with engineering teams to build development and validation plans and test methodology with the objective of optimising resources and increasing our rate of development Ability to apply theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems typically encountered in the test and development of complex systems Competent in the specification and application of advanced test rig control methods instrumentation and data acquisition Provide technical leadership for the delivery of complex test engineering projects and manage schedules budget and resource constraints. Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills. Qualifications and Experience Level: Specialist knowledge in the specification design and delivery of complex test capability and methods typically employed in the development and verification of Formula One car systems.
