Tax & Treasury Recruitment have been mandated by a FTSE250 media and technology company to source and select a director to lead their newly formed tax and treasury department.


Your contract will say remote, but there will be an expectation of light office (London) presence in balance with business need. It is estimated that you'll spend 1 day per month in the office.


This role has been created to support the business whilst industry leading transformation projects are carried out across every division.


Your first job will be to set up all systems and processes for UK tax compliance, risk and reporting. This will be a hands-on role for corporate tax, with taxes such as VAT and R&D requiring more of an oversight.


Expect a frequent need to advise on Transfer Pricing, M&A and US Taxation. You will also partner with external advisors on ad hoc projects.


For support in delivering on this, you will have the resource of a Tax Manager.


Treasury is also a small, but crucial part of your role as an experienced Treasury Manager will report into you. They will require your high-level insight into managing banking relationships, optimising cash/FX positions and establishing policies.


Looking to the wider business, you will report into the FD & CFO. Initially, they will be interested in seeing a well-managed tax team. Once this has been achieved, you will then be able to focus on raising the profile of tax within the business.


This is a role that will challenge you, but ultimately will elevate you to the position of a rounded Head of Tax.
