People Partner – Maternity Leave Cover

We are looking for a People Partner for the Scottish Region on a fixed term contract (Maternity Leave cover) for a period of 12 months. You will become a trusted advisor by having a detailed understanding of the business area, remaining up to date on employment legislation and best practice and providing solutions, along with risk profiles and commercial implications.

Reporting to, and working closely with, the People Business Partner, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive and professional service to the business whilst embedding HR best practice, the People Plan and Breedon’s core value.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:-

General

-       Advise and coach business leaders on the application and interpretation of HR policies and procedures in accordance with current and proposed employment legislation and local arrangements, to ensure consistency, accuracy and best practice

-       Assist with the recording of KPI information for the business area, analysing problem areas and advising business leaders on solutions

-       Provide high quality HR advice and guidance directly to managers to facilitate the early resolution of difficult, complex or sensitive employee relations issues, ensuring that the risks associated with such cases are effectively managed

-       Assist with operational projects which improve service delivery, including supporting with the development of team objectives and KPI’s

-       Support business leaders to identify learning and development needs, recording of information and use of LMS

-       Support in the design and delivery of training programmes designed to improve competency within the business area

-       Provide advice and support to business leaders on the performance management process including the provision of accurate supporting information. 

Resourcing

-       Proactively work with business leaders on the correct people resourcing, supporting and challenging where necessary 

-       Oversee resource planning, providing advice to business leaders on recruitment campaigns, development of job descriptions/person specifications, job evaluations and appropriate selection processes, including attending interviews where necessary

-       Support business leaders with the recruitment process of Apprentices and Graduates, ensuring recruitment is professional, timely and consistent

-       Work with the HR Administration team to ensure all paperwork in relation to resourcing is completed and issued in a timely manner, including offer letters, contracts and new starter paperwork

-       Along with the business leader, liaise with new starters, prior to and after starting employment to aid onboarding process

-       Work with the People Business Partner to analyse information in order to identify future needs and skills

-       Support external events to promote Breedon as a good employer, e.g. school and college liaison, careers fairs

Employee Engagement

-       Assist with the annual engagement and pulse survey’s, by ensuring all employees have access to the system

-       Provide help and support to line managers and encourage participation in the survey

-       Assist in the delivery of feedback of survey results

-       Assist in the development and implementation of actions plans

-       Support recognition initiatives to celebrate success and thank you for a job well done

Role Analysis/Restructure

-       Support the People Business Partner to deliver a professional and effective consultation and redundancy process

-       Assist with any required changes in terms and conditions of employment, including consultation and confirmation of new terms and retaining hard copy records and updating internal systems

-       Provide support on any review of terms and conditions of current or transferred employees to fully understand position and make recommendations for change

Mergers & Acquisitions

-       Assist with the due diligence process to ensure effective collection and recording of employee data

-       Support the formal consultation process during mergers / acquisitions, including employee communications

-       Assist with communication and integration projects, including those linked to terms and conditions and headcount reorganisation

Employee Wellbeing

-       Working with the People Business Partner and wider HR team to support the implementation and embedding of workplace wellbeing programmes

-       Support volunteering programmes in order to encourage participation, accurate recording and ongoing relationships

-       Promote wellbeing programmes both internally and externally
