Fimatix are assisting our Financial Services client who are undergoing a rapid period of expansion. We are helping them recruit a Reporter who has some experience of Financial Services.
Job Description: We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented reporter driven by curiosity, a desire to learn and a willingness to pick up the phone and ask questions. You will have an interest in finance, politics or crime and a knack for digging-up exclusive stories. You will cover the behind-the-scenes activity that keeps the lights on in financial markets, the regulations financial services firms must follow and how those regulations get made as well as the mistakes, fines, frauds and crimes that happen along the way.
This position could suit someone with an interest in artificial intelligence, blockchain and crypto as well as fintech. Or you might be someone interested in green finance and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) issues. You take pride in your work and know readers want news they can trust and use, not AI-generated clickbait. You are not afraid of details and value accuracy and fairness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and write high-quality news articles about financial regulation and related topics.
- Use data visualization tools to create engaging graphics.
- Manage and publish content using our content management system (CMS).
- Develop a strong source list and continuously educate yourself about your beat.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop story ideas and angles.
- Report on breaking news.
Qualities we seek:
- 1-2 years of experience in journalism, preferably in financial news.
- An interest the financial markets and services sector, plus data and investigative journalism
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Flourish).
- Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
- Excellent writing and proofreading ability
- Ability to work to deadlines and multitask.
- Strong analytical, research and listening skills.
- Ethical approach to reporting.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in data journalism.
- Experience in investigative journalism and success submitting freedom of information requests.
- Podcast editing and video skills.
