The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, analytical, hands on and commercially minded Quality Manager to join us in our Supply Chain team, reporting into the Head of Supply Chain. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality standards of our products in accordance with regulatory requirements.


You will also work closely with suppliers and manufacturers as well as other key members of the BetterYou team, including new product development. This is a standalone and very hands on role within the business, requiring you to use your initiative and get “stuck in” on a daily basis across a very busy and varied remit.


What will you get up to?

·      Ensure the highest quality of product and service to BetterYou customers whilst working alongside our Manufacturers and suppliers

·      Ensure due diligence systems (QMS) are continuously improved and enforced through audits, providing technical support and advice to the business, whilst delivering a consistent approach to systems implementation

·      Write and review SOPs and other Quality documentation as required, encompassing all processes, across the business, affecting product quality

·      Conduct audits of 3rd party manufacturers and key suppliers

·      Maintain site standards for quality, hygiene, pest control etc.

·      Manage the non-conformance system. Investigation of complaints & product non-conformances

·      Maintenance of QMS manual and operational quality documentation / records to ensure a satisfactory standard is always attained

·      Conduct incoming checks to ensure that materials and products meet agreed specifications, traceability and labelling requirements

·      Review artwork proofs, labels, manage approval of complete finished product specifications.

·      Coordinate samples for internal panels, external assessment, collation, interpretation and trend analysis of results

·      Coordinate organoleptic and shelf-life assessments, with subsequent documentation of results.

·      Ensure full traceability is maintained and manage the product recall tests

·      Manage effective communications with internal and external customers, suppliers to ensure all technical needs of the business are met

·      Ensure routine specification reviews are completed, internal certified claim validations, undertake product quality assessments

·      Generate and deliver timely and comprehensive quality metrics to senior leadership team e.g. quality incidents, OOS results, investigations

·      Maintain Quality system databases i.e., complaints, deviations, Stability Studies

·      Assess accuracy and suitability of third-party quality documentation to ensure they meet requirements of BetterYou specification

·      Responsible for approval of new ingredients, fit for purpose for the design, customer, country and site requirements, and costs

·      Drive cross-departmental working through all stages of quality aspects in line with the stage gate process

·      Routinely Inspect returned products for verification of initial complaint category type

·      Submit competitor, development and live product for analysis, evaluate data to support high-quality product development

·      Responsible for daily monitoring and organising maintenance of climatic cabinets to ICH guidelines

·      Plan and execute long term stability projects to assure quality of existing and in development BetterYou products

·      Liaise with the contract laboratories regarding testing requirements, queries and investigations

·      Quality review of stability data to support on-going stability studies

·      Assessing analytical and microbiological data from suppliers to support batch release

·      Responsible for investigation and management of product recall / withdrawal activity, and liaising on such matters with regulatory authorities


Regulatory & Compliance

·      Ensure PIF documents are adhered to the company’s requirement maintaining strict IP Control between BetterYou and third parties.

·      Creation and review of technical and confidentiality agreements between BetterYou and third parties


Support duties

·      Assist where needed in the development of new products and reformulation of existing products. (also performed by Regulatory)

·      Tracking of expenditure of quality and product development departments

·      Monitor customer complaints database and where applicable instigate investigations with suppliers to identify root cause


Who do we need?

Personal Attributes:

·      Strong research and analytical skills

·      In-depth knowledge of national and international industry regulations

·      Understanding of business management principles

·      Exceptional attention to detail

Experience and Qualifications:

·      Prior experience in analysing quality and performance

·      At least three to four years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within a healthcare, FMCG or food background

·      Familiarity with business improvement methods, a background in project management and previous industry-specific experience

·      A bachelor's degree in product management, or level 5 Diploma in Quality Management, business process improvement and training on the International Standards Organization (ISO)

·      Travel to Suppliers/Manufacture’s sites as required predominately within the UK, but occasionally internationally
