This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold.Intelligence Analyst- 12 positions available at different locations on different teamsAbout the Role:West Midlands Police Intelligence department are currently recruiting for Intelligence analysts to work within Intelligence teams based across various locations in the Force area. The role of the analyst is to conduct analysis at a strategic tactical and/or operational level identifying and using appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps patterns and trends assess threat risk and harm and make recommendations in support of decision making prioritisation and resource allocation.Analysts will work with other Intelligence and policing professionals to identify recommendations to help tackle problems. Due to the nature of intelligence and the constantly evolving threats we encounter the environment is fast paced. The post holder will require a wide skill set to ensure that the resilience and demands of the policing requirements for West Midlands are met across both Covert and Overt operational activities.The Analyst provides expertise through the development and use of analytical products to assist decision making at a strategic tactical and operational level. The PILT Analysts are responsible for highlighting any patterns and trends offering advice on partnership recommendations and be the bridge between Intelligence and the Partners to assist with driving activity through performance as identified in the Serious and Organised Crime local Profile.Dudley Partnership Intelligence Liaison Analyst x 1 -working Monday to Friday office hoursWalsall Partnership Intelligence Liaison Analyst x 1 -working Monday to Friday office hoursBirmingham Partnership Intelligence Liaison Analyst x 1 -Based in Bournville Birmingham working Monday to Friday office hoursKey responsibilities:Conduct analysis at a strategic tactical and/or operational level identifying andusing appropriate analytical tools and techniques to interpret gaps patternsand trends assess threat risk and harm and make recommendations in support ofdecision making prioritisation and resource allocation.To assist in the development of intelligence collection plans to ensure theeffective communication of these to operational officers; Senior Leaders; ForceExecutive Team; other Police Forces and external partners.Identification and assessment of the Tactical and Strategic Priorities for Force through useof Structured Analytical Techniques.To develop and maintain knowledge of current intelligence together with crimetrends and patterns relevant to the force.To utilise their subject matter knowledge to inform upon and recommend likelytargets or pathways of resolution from their analysis to senior officers.Prepare briefing notes and deliver clear presentations where appropriate ensuring thatthe medium used is suitable for the audience.Provide complex evidential analysis and professional witness testimony to the highest of standard to secure the successful prosecution of offenders involved in serious and organised crime.When required to do so offer specialist guidance influencing decision making by the Executive Team Police Senior Investigating Officers Intelligence Managers and Intelligence Officers regarding crime community tensions and operations.Work to a high level of integrity routinely handling sensitive information and as such following GSC (Government Security Classification) and other guidance with regard to handling and storing this data.Essential criteria:A degree level in relevant subject or equivalent qualification or experience within a similar environmentExperience of collating evaluating structuring and processing data to identify patterns series similarities and discrepancies within a variety of information typesThe ability to use software packages in the charting and analytical preparation of data.Evidence of working with Interpreting and simplifying complex data sets.A high level of competence in the use of Microsoft packages and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.Evidence a good understanding of the requirements of the National Intelligence Model (NIM).Understanding of and ability to apply relevant legislation (i.e ECHR RIPA Data Protection).Ability to work in a high-pressure environment yet still providing accuracy at all times and a high level of detail.Experience of working within a team and on own initiative effectively planning and organising activities and resources to meet objectives.Desirable criteria:Experience as an Intelligence Analyst within a law enforcement agency (LEA)Knowledge of current crime threat trends and organisational policy issues relevant to policing.Experience of using databases to both input and extract data.Experience of the use of statistical and risk modelsExperience of relevant analytical tools such as iBASE i2 workstation GIS applications and other customised databases.Understand the practical distinctions between analysis policy and decision-makingApplications:Following the application paper sift process applicants will then be invited to the next stage of recruitment which is a maths/verbal reasoning test. Successful applicants at this stage will then be invited to the final stage of recruitment nd will consist of a competency-based interview (College of Policing CVF Level1) plus a 15 minute presentation.Hours of work:The core hours of this role will be office hours Monday to Friday (36.5 hours per week) although there could be some weekend working depending on role. There may also be a requirement at times to travel to other locations within the Force area.
