Your role

 

Are you a proactive media relations professional who leverages strong relationships with business partners and journalists to enhance a firm's reputation? Working with a tightly-knit team, the Media Relations Officer will be primarily responsible for leading the media relations efforts for the Investment Bank’s (IB) Global Markets business in the EMEA, working closely with Global Banking and Global Research divisions.

 

The Officer will be responsible for:

  • Creating proactive and reactive strategic media relations plans with the goal of driving business results, and enhancing and protecting the reputation of the firm in the region
  • Answering daily media enquiries from reporters
  • Facilitating introduction and relationship building meetings with bankers and beat/sector reporters.
  • Identifying and executing thought leadership initiatives on behalf of the firm
  • Data-led approach to media relation with a strong capabilities in impact measurement
  • Collaborating with business leaders and the US, Switzerland and Asia Pacific media relations teams.

 

The media relations team enjoys working together and with our counterparts in Internal Communications, Social Media, and Marketing to coordinate communications across the firm. S/he must also be able to balance the needs of the businesses with the overall goals of the firm, and be able to work comfortably in a global business environment.

 

The Media Relations Officer will report into the Global Head of IB Media Relations.

 

Your expertise

  • Ideally 4-5 years of experience in media relations.
  • Perennial student – interest in learning about banking, investment products, the markets, innovation and technology in the industry.
  • Interest in the news – in-depth understanding of the media landscape in banking.
  • Innovative thinker – comes up with engaging and creative media strategies.
  • Sociable/self-starter – able to run communications projects independently, keeping close contact with business partners.
  • Excellent communicator – able to convey complex ideas in a simple comprehensive way.
  • Ideally multi-communication specialist with some experience in internal communications, social media or marketing an advantage.
  • Team player – someone who can work collaboratively across the IB communications function, supporting junior members of the team and pitching in when additional support is required.

 

 

Preferred:

  • Agency and/or financial services experience
  • Financial services background
  • Experience using AI tools such as Microsoft co-Pilot
  • Strong team player
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic work setting
  • Solution-orientated and accustomed to tight deadlines
