The Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity for a passionate and driven Quantity Surveyor to work with this dynamic multi-discipline construction consultancy, in an exciting time in their evolution. Work flexibly across projects in Brighton and Hove, to help the Founder deliver quality work to clients.


You will work closely with Lee Garratt the founder who is passionate, highly experienced, empathetic and will instruct you clearly on each project, so that you have the information you need.


The company is growing and there will be more opportunities in the future.


The Role

  • Work on construction projects from inception to completion
  • Contract Administration including preparation of tender and contract documents, bills of quantities and contractual notices.
  • Establish client requirements, feasibility studies and viability reports
  • Estimating for new projects for local builders
  • Cost Planning including labour, plant and material breakdowns
  • Carry out regular progress meetings and monthly project valuations
  • Advise on a procurement strategy and managing the tender process
  • Negotiate contracts and work schedules
  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
  • Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes
  • Value completed works, including change control and issue relevant notices to the client
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts
  • Understand implications of health and safety regulations, offer advice on property taxation


Qualifications and experience

  • Either Contractor or PQS background is acceptable
  • Preferably RICS member or Associate
  • Experience in Cost Planning, Measurement, Contract Administration, Project Management and Procurement.


The Details

  • Contract: Freelance role, up to 2 days per week depending on demand
  • Remuneration: £250 - £400 depending on project and level
  • Location: Brighton & Hove
