The programme aims to build on the principles of research excellence and mentorship developed during the successful ECAT Wellcome Clinical PhD programme with a strong emphasis on research inclusivity and a positive research culture.Vacancies are open to:Trainees in all GMC-recognised medical and surgical specialtiesPrimary care practitionersCandidates from across the UKOther Medical Professionals - Specialty Doctor and EquivalentIn order to maximise flexibility for individual trainees two types of post are available: ECAT Clinical Lectureships(with combined clinical training or experience; Wellcome PhD for Health Professionals; and mentorship) and ECAT PhD Fellowships (with Wellcome PhD for Health Professionals and mentorship).Before beginning the 3-year PhD project funding is provided for a preparatory period when selection of supervisors and planning of the PhD project are optimised with the support of the ECAT directors 12 months for the former 3 months for the latter (although this could be open to negotiation depending on personal circumstances).
