With flexible working arrangements ongoing training and genuine career development opportunities this role offers stability and progression for the right candidate.About the RoleAs a Bookkeeper youll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for a varied client base processing transactions and preparing management information. Youll work closely with the accountancy team playing a vital role in ensuring clients financial records are up-to-date accurate and compliant.This is a full-time position with flexible working arrangements available offering excellent work-life balance in a modern professional practice that values its team members and invests in their development.Key ResponsibilitiesBookkeeping & Transaction ProcessingMaintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for multiple clients across various sectorsProcess sales and purchase invoices receipts and paymentsPerform bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are correctly recordedReconcile control accounts including debtors creditors and VATProcess payroll journals and pension contributionsPrepare and post month-end and year-end journalsMaintain fixed asset registers and process depreciation calculationsEnsure all bookkeeping work complies with accounting standards and client requirementsCloud Accounting & Software ManagementUtilise cloud accounting platforms including Xero Sage QuickBooks and FreeAgentSet up new clients on cloud accounting systemsProvide basic training and support to clients using cloud accounting softwareMaintain and update client records within practice management systemsEmbrace digital accounting solutions and new technologiesTroubleshoot basic software queries and liaise with software support when neededVAT & CompliancePrepare and submit VAT returns (quarterly and monthly) ensuring accuracy and complianceMaintain VAT records and reconcile VAT control accountsAdvise clients on basic VAT queries and compliance mattersEnsure Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance for all relevant clientsAssist with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns where applicableManagement Information & ReportingPrepare management accounts and financial reports for clientsProduce aged debtor and creditor reportsGenerate cashflow reports and financial summariesProvide clients with timely accurate financial information to support decision-makingIdentify and report any discrepancies or unusual transactionsClient Communication & ServiceBuild strong professional relationships with clientsLiaise with clients to request information and clarify transactionsRespond to client queries promptly and professionallyProvide excellent customer service that reflects the firms valuesAttend client meetings when requiredExplain financial information clearly to clients with varying levels of financial knowledgeTeam Collaboration & DevelopmentWork collaboratively with accountants and other team membersSupport colleagues with bookkeeping queries and technical mattersParticipate in training and professional development opportunitiesStay current with changes in bookkeeping practices software updates and legislationContribute to team meetings and share knowledge across the practiceWhat Were Looking ForEssential Qualifications & ExperienceAAT qualified (Level 3 or 4) ICB qualified or equivalent bookkeeping qualification (or working towards completion)Minimum 3 years bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice or similar professional environmentStrong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principlesProven experience maintaining bookkeeping records for multiple clientsCompetent in preparing and submitting VAT returnsExperience with bank reconciliations control account reconciliations and month-end processesProficiency with accounting software (Xero Sage QuickBooks or similar)Strong working knowledge of Microsoft ExcelDesirable Skills & ExperienceExperience with multiple cloud accounting platforms (Xero Sage QuickBooks FreeAgent)Understanding of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirementsExperience with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returnsExposure to different industry sectors and business typesExperience preparing management accountsKnowledge of payroll processesKey Skills & AttributesExcellent attention to detail with high levels of accuracyStrong organisational skills able to manage multiple client deadlines efficientlyEffective communication skills both written and verbalProfessional and client-focused approachProactive and self-motivated with ability to work independentlyTeam player with collaborative attitudeAdaptable and flexible comfortable managing varied workloadProblem-solving skills able to identify and resolve discrepanciesCommitment to accuracy and complianceExcellent Benefits PackageOur client offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package designed to support your career and wellbeing:Competitive salary: 24000 -
