Management Accountant

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join our team at a leading commercial construction company. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and proficiency in Sage 200. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will provide reliable, timely, and meaningful financial information to ensure the financial health and success of the company.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, supporting schedules, and other financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
  • Provide insightful analysis and recommendations, including variance to budget, prior year, and trends.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams to offer guidance on project performance and financial risks.
  • Implement cost analysis and control measures to optimize profitability.
  • Ensure efficient and effective use of accounting and project-costing software.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements such as VAT, CIS returns, and PAYE/NIC submissions.
  • Manage payroll information for external processors and handle payroll queries.
  • Assist with cash flow management, forecasting, annual budgeting, and profit forecasting.
  • Support the Head of Finance with the annual statutory audit and pricing reviews.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of financial processes and procedures.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting tasks as required by senior management.
  • Provide holiday cover for other finance team members as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management accounting, preferably within the commercial construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Sage 200 accounting software.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and financial regulations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience managing payroll.
  • Strong Excel and data manipulation skills.
