With genuine career progression study support and a collaborative team environment this role offers the perfect platform to advance your accountancy career.About the RoleAs a Semi-Senior Accountant youll work on a varied client portfolio preparing accounts and tax returns whilst developing your technical expertise under the guidance of senior team members. Youll gain exposure to different industries and client types building your confidence and capabilities as you progress towards senior positions.This is a full-time position with flexible working arrangements available offering excellent work-life balance in a supportive practice environment that genuinely invests in developing its people.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Preparation & Financial ReportingPrepare statutory accounts for sole traders partnerships and limited companies to trial balance stage and beyondAssist in the preparation of management accounts for clientsProcess bookkeeping records and reconcile bank statements control accounts and balance sheet itemsPrepare year-end journals and adjustmentsEnsure all work is completed accurately and in accordance with UK accounting standardsReview and analyse financial information to identify queries and discrepanciesTaxationPrepare personal tax returns (SA100) for sole traders partnerships and individualsAssist with corporation tax computations (CT600) for limited companiesPrepare VAT returns and maintain VAT recordsSupport clients with basic tax queries and compliance mattersAssist with tax planning opportunities under supervisionClient Communication & ServiceLiaise with clients to request information and clarify financial queriesBuild positive working relationships with clients through professional communicationRespond to client queries in a timely and helpful mannerAttend client meetings alongside senior team members when requiredProvide excellent client service that reflects the firms valuesSystems & TechnologyUtilise cloud accounting software including Xero Sage QuickBooks and FreeAgentMaintain accurate records within practice management systemsEmbrace new technologies and digital accounting solutionsSupport clients with cloud accounting queries and basic system setupProfessional Development & TeamworkWork collaboratively with colleagues across the practiceSupport junior team members and trainees when appropriateParticipate in training and development opportunitiesStay current with changes in accounting standards and tax legislationContribute to team meetings and knowledge sharingWhat Were Looking ForEssential Qualifications & ExperiencePart-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA ACA CIMA AAT Level 4 or equivalent)Minimum 3 years UK practice experience within an accountancy firm environmentSolid understanding of UK accounting principles and tax legislationExperience preparing accounts for sole traders partnerships and/or limited companiesCompetent in preparing personal tax returns and basic corporation tax computationsProficiency with accounting software and Microsoft ExcelDesirable Skills & ExperienceExperience using cloud accounting platforms such as Xero Sage QuickBooks or FreeAgentExposure to different client sectors and business typesUnderstanding of FRS 102 and UK GAAPExperience with VAT returns and complianceKey Skills & AttributesStrong technical accounting skills with excellent attention to detailGood organisational skills able to manage workload and meet deadlinesEffective communication skills both written and verbalProactive approach to learning and professional developmentTeam player with a positive can-do attitudeClient-focused with professional manner and presentationAdaptable and flexible comfortable working on varied tasksExcellent Benefits PackageOur client offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits designed to support your career development and wellbeing:Competitive salary: 28000 - 35000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)Work-life balance: Hybrid and Flexible working hours and understanding approach to personal commitmentsStudy support: Full funding for professional qualifications including study leave exam fees and study materialsCareer progression: Clear pathway to Senior Accountant and beyond with structured development plansProfessional development: Regular training CPD opportunities and technical updatesMentorship: Support and guidance from experienced qualified accountantsSupportive culture: Collaborative friendly team environment where your contribution is valuedSocial events: Regular team activities celebrations and charity eventsPension scheme: Workplace pension contributionAnnual leave: Generous holiday entitlement plus bank holidaysFree parking: On-site parking availableAbout Our ClientOur client is a chartered certified accountancy practice based in Crewe with over 20 years of experience serving businesses and individuals across Cheshire and Staffordshire.
