With genuine career progression full study support and a collaborative team environment this role offers the perfect platform to advance your audit career.About the RoleAs a Semi-Senior Auditor youll be responsible for planning and executing audit assignments for a varied client portfolio working under the supervision of senior auditors and managers. ResponsibilitiesAudit Planning & ExecutionPlan and execute audit assignments for sole traders partnerships limited companies and charitiesPerform risk assessments and identify key audit areas requiring focusDevelop audit programmes and testing strategies appropriate to client size and complexityExecute substantive testing procedures including analytical review sampling and detailed testingDocument audit work clearly and comprehensively in accordance with ISAs (UK)Review and evaluate internal controls and assess their effectivenessIdentify control weaknesses and make recommendations for improvementsEnsure all audit work complies with auditing standards and firm quality control proceduresFinancial Statement Review & AnalysisReview financial statements for accuracy completeness and compliance with accounting standardsPerform analytical procedures to identify unusual trends or discrepanciesReview accounting estimates and judgements for reasonablenessVerify completeness and accuracy of disclosures in financial statementsEnsure compliance with FRS 102 FRS 105 and other relevant accounting frameworksIdentify and resolve accounting and disclosure issuesPrepare audit adjustments and reclassification entriesClient Engagement & CommunicationBuild strong professional relationships with client finance teams and managementLiaise with clients to request information schedules and supporting documentationConduct client meetings and walkthroughs of systems and processesExplain audit requirements and findings clearly to clientsRespond to client queries professionally and in a timely mannerProvide excellent client service that reflects the firms values and professionalismIdentify opportunities to add value and improve client processesTeam Leadership & DevelopmentSupervise and review work performed by audit assistants and traineesProvide guidance coaching and feedback to junior team membersDelegate tasks appropriately and monitor progressReview working papers prepared by junior staff for accuracy and completenessSupport the development of less experienced team membersContribute to a positive collaborative team environmentTechnical Compliance & QualityEnsure all audit work meets ISAs (UK) and firm quality control standardsComplete audit files in accordance with firm policies and deadlinesPrepare audit completion checklists and ensure all procedures are documentedAssist with audit clearance and resolution of review pointsStay current with changes in auditing standards accounting standards and legislationParticipate in technical training and CPD activitiesContribute to maintaining the firms audit quality and reputationReporting & DocumentationPrepare draft audit reports and management lettersDocument significant audit findings and conclusionsPrepare audit summaries and key issues memorandaAssist managers with audit completion and sign-off proceduresMaintain comprehensive well-organised audit filesEnsure working papers are clear logical and support audit conclusionsWhat Were Looking ForEssential Qualifications & ExperiencePart-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA ACCA or equivalent) with audit specialismMinimum 4 years audit experience within an accountancy practice environmentStrong knowledge of ISAs (UK) and audit methodologySolid understanding of UK accounting standards (FRS 102 FRS 105 UK GAAP)Proven experience planning and executing audit assignmentsExperience auditing limited companies charities and other entity typesCompetent in reviewing financial statements and identifying accounting issuesExperience supervising and reviewing junior staff workProficiency with audit software and Microsoft ExcelDesirable Skills & ExperienceExperience with audit software platforms (CCH Audit Automation CaseWare or similar)Exposure to specialist audits (charities academies pension schemes solicitors accounts)Understanding of Companies Act requirements and filing obligationsExperience with group audits and consolidationsKnowledge of IFRS and international accounting standardsExperience liaising with external stakeholders (banks
