Then we have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager, reporting into the Operations Director, based at and between both of our manufacturing sites in Whitstable and Vantage Point, Snodland.
Position Summary:
As the new Quality Manager, you will lead the quality teams across our Whitstable and Vantage Point sites and will work in close partnership with the Engineering & Operations team to address current challenges in both the office and factory, introducing new processes & procedures and driving continuous improvements across the full product life cycle. The Quality Manager will work with the wider team to make sure that our products are safe, reliable, and meet customer expectations by challenging the processes, equipment, and people to improve capability, reliability, and performance. All whilst keeping the design and manufacturing process as effective and cost-efficient as possible.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Overall quality representation in Whitstable and Vantage Point sites, responsible for product and process adherence
- Set and improve the organisation quality metrics, including Scrap, Warranty cost and cost of poor quality
- Coach and lead structured problem-solving workshops using tools such as 6 sigma / 8D / 5 whys / Process flow cause and effect
- Lead the site teams to set standards and ensure we strive for continuous improvement
- Work with Procurement & Design teams to set supplier standards and lead supplier audit programme
- Provide guidance and leadership to the Quality Engineers and inspectors on a daily basis
- Work across both factories ensuring standards and metrics are consistent and reported accurately
- Responsible for ISO compliance audits and site quality standards
- Work with Design teams to ensure quality is involved throughout the product lifecycle
- Support NCR (Nonconformance Report) process to implement improvements
- Play an active and influential role in the Operations management team
Qualifications/Education
- Formal further education in an Engineering/scientific discipline such as engineering degree or HND
- Evidence of structured training in a Quality discipline such as Statistical process control Six Sigma Green or Black belt
Experience
- At least 10 years in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing company
- People management skills and experience
