Due to exceptional growth and expansion, Hamlyn Williams is looking for a Credit Controller to join our London or Cardiff office. The Credit Controller will be responsible for the credit control collections across all our offices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit control within the recruitment industry and possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle all credit-related issues efficiently and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.




Key Responsibilities:

  1. Proactively chase debt via telephone and email through to resolution.
  2. Manage any inbound and outbound emails and queries within specified timeframes.
  3. Work with client portals to ensure prompt invoice payments.
  4. Run regular reports, aged debt reports, weekly worry list, and provide forecasting details to CFO
  5. Reduce the aged debt, minimise rollover and ensure the clients pay within the agreed payment terms.
  6. Send out monthly statements of accounts, dunning letters and late payment charges to late payers.
  7. Run credit checks for each potential client to set credit limits.
  8. Make sure all credit control activities comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements when it comes to late payment charges, and other charges deducted, to be added to the invoices.
  9. Work to critical time deadlines.
  10. Escalating matters to account payable managers, CFO and internal consultants and managers.
  11. Comfortable dealing with debt recovery agents for our International offices.



Skills & Requirements:

  1. Team player but can also work on their own initiative.
  2. Highly organised, with critical thinking and verbal reasoning skills.
  3. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in credit control, with at least 2 years within a recruitment agency.
  4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficient in using financial software and systems, with advanced Excel skills.
  6. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  8. Ability to work across different time zones and handle diverse client requirements.
  9. High level of professionalism and integrity.
