Key accountabilities
  • Develop and implement an appropriate road and rail logistics strategy to achieve company objectives
  • Management of a fleet of 80-100 internally owned HGV vehicles and additional haulier contractors
  • Manage an office based team including a transport manager and a team of logistics planners 
  • Assessment of medium and long term business road and rail logistics needs and adapting the operating model accordingly 
  • Manage and engage with key third party logistics contractors 
  • Implement and manage and effective HSE programme which aligns with the companies HSE strategy 
  • Overall responsibility for between 400 and 500 logistics movements daily
Skills & experience
  • 5 years' experience in senior logistics management 
  • Understanding of transport compliance 
  • Proven experience of various modes of transport including RoRo, Skips, Arctic and Trains 
  • Transport Management CPC qualification is essential
  • Experience working in a unionised industry would be beneficial
