Are you a strategic communicator with a passion for building relationships and shaping public perception?

We’re looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Stakeholder and Media Relations to join our team and lead our external communications efforts. In this pivotal role, you will shape how our organisation engages with key stakeholders, including the media, government bodies, and other influential groups. You will be the voice of our brand, fostering positive relationships and promoting our narrative across various platforms.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s stakeholder and media engagement, representing us to key national stakeholders and journalists.
  • Work closely with Chair and CEO on their stakeholder activity, advising them on their engagement programmes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify, engage, and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including industry, parliamentary, trades unions and others
  • Cultivate relationships with key journalists, media outlets, and influencers to enhance our reputation and manage day to day inquiries.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, public policy issues, and media landscape changes that may impact the organisation.
  • Identify potential challenges related to stakeholder engagement and media coverage, develop and manage proactive strategies to address these.
  • Deputise for Director of Communications as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of stakeholder and media relations efforts, particularly though the annual stakeholder survey. Take responsibility for delivering measurable outcomes, preparing reports for senior management that highlight successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Create compelling content for various communication channels, including press releases, and stakeholder reports.
  • Regularly assess and refine stakeholder and media relations strategies to enhance engagement and effectiveness. Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in communications and public relations.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

  • Strong experience working with senior executives to advise and guide their engagement with external audiences.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and media relations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools and communication platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field or demonstratable experience.
