Robert Half is recruiting for an interim Cass Officer to join a startup payments/fx business for one day a week.

ROLE: Cass Officer (Payments/FX start up)


LENGTH: 1 day per week for 6 months to then go perm (Temp to Perm Role)


LOCATION: UK Based


PAY: Outside IR35 - up to £500 per day



Key responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and implementing efficient control processes to ensure compliance with FCA CASS regulations.
  • Oversight of CASS processes across stakeholder groups including the CASS Resolution Pack, the Client Money & Assets Return (CMAR), the development of management information and the management of governance forums.
  • Providing technical advice on CASS compliance to business and support functions while promoting regulatory awareness.
  • Designing and conducting quality assurance testing to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Reviewing changes to CASS rules and assessing their impact on the firm’s processes and responding to requests for information from regulators and auditors.
  • Assisting with the development of client asset policies ensuring they are formally documented.
  • Developing and maintaining a CASS framework, including FRC rule mapping and controls.
  • Managing the CASS audit process and chairing the CASS Oversight Committee.
  • Assisting with the following CASS Oversight functions:

-Monthly CASS Oversight Committee

-Preparing the relevant papers and taking the minutes

-Preparing and following up on Committee actions

-CASS Breaches register

-CASS Calendar of events

-Oversight of CASS Controls / Control Monitoring

-Preparing the annual Banking Review to include:

-a) Due diligence b) Acknowledgement letters c) Diversification

-CASS Resolution Plan

-CASS training


Skills and experience

  • Experience working in regulatory/operational functions within a financial services firm, including knowledge of trade flows and the management of control processes
  • Knowledge and experience within a CASS Oversight function and/or experience of working on CASS firm audits or advisory arrangements
  • Advanced knowledge of UK CASS regulations, gained through experience in financial services or as a regulator or an industry practitioner
  • Detailed understanding of the UK regulatory environment
  • Excellent awareness of regulatory risk and control mechanisms
  • Preferably CISI IOC qualified including CASS specific modules



ASAP Start Date

6 Months to perm - starting as one day per week

Rate: Outside IR35
