Laboratory Service Lead MFD

The Opportunity:
Avantor is looking for a dedicated and experienced Laboratory Service Lead to join our team in Cambridge UK. In this role youll take responsibility for managing a team of Laboratory Technicians who work across chemistry laboratories. You will play a pivotal role in supporting operations including waste management housekeeping and equipment maintenance ensuring seamless service delivery to enable scientific excellence.
This role will be a fulltime permanent position based in a brandnew facility at the customer site The Discovery Centre BioMedical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday to Friday core hours
The Team
You will join a team of three Laboratory Services Leads each with expertise in different laboratory disciplines. Youll be responsible for leading and mentoring four Laboratory Technicians based in a chemistry laboratory. You will be part of our Lab and Production Services department which supports large pharmaceutical companies and laboratories globally in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry.
What were looking for
- Education: A Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline (preferably Chemistry/Biochemistry) or equivalent experience in a laboratory environment
- Experience:
- People management including recruitment behavioural management and staff development
- Laboratory experience including knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory setting with IOSH certification being desirable
- Familiarity with GLS GxP regulations audit requirements and CAPAs
- Incident response and investigation including root cause analysis (RCAs)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis/reporting.
- Experience in writing Risk Assessments and COSHH
How youll thrive and create an impact
- Oversee daytoday laboratory operations in the chemistry laboratory supporting a team of four Laboratory Technicians to ensure smooth and efficient lab operations
- Take responsibility for all aspects of Health and Safety including audits and GEMBA walks and ensure regulatory compliance
- Plan and manage time throughout the day prioritizing and coordinating the of daily operational tasks for the scientific support team
- Attend regular business meetings with customers to present data including KPI capture and analysis of any deviations
- Create maintain and update relevant documentation to support service delivery compliance and training such as work instructions risk assessments COSHH assessments and training
