About the role

Working in ER at NFU Mutual means you are part of a specialist team. As a subject matter expert your role will be to influence, challenge, advise and coach the business on all Employee Relations issues to drive consistent application of people practices across the business by balancing business need and risk appetite.

Due to an internal mover, you will be joining a team of eight ER specialists and will be managing a broad and varied caseload, across areas including performance, sickness and conduct cases to name but a few. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will be expected to actively support, advise, coach, and provide constructive challenge to managers, to help guide them on their decisions.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in wider ER work such as policy reviews, supporting or leading projects, supplier management, employee wellbeing, and ensuring effective Union relationships. You will also actively research, identify and proactively report on ER trends, risks and issues to continuously improve service and support the business to be a Great Place to Work.

The role is based in our Tiddington office, just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon. However, we understand how important a positive work-life balance is, so to help you give your best, we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work up to 80% of your hours from home.

About you

It is essential you have worked within an ER role (or an HR role with a strong ER focus) and have experience including handling multiple complex cases, a thorough understanding of what the team do, and proven success of practical application of UK Employment Legislation and contractual obligations.

You will be comfortable influencing and challenging senior stakeholders, providing a consultative approach and applying your expert ER knowledge and strong research skills to support your input.

You will be able to approach each case with a holistic view using your insights and knowledge to consider all eventualities.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are a key part of role. You will be expected to make clear notes, regularly update trackers, refer to and use data and MI, and write or contribute to formal papers so strong communication skills are required, both verbal and written

You'll need empathy and resilience, as you'll be engaging in sensitive and confidential discussions.

  • CIPD level 5 qualified or working towards is desirable.
  • A full driving licence is desirable, as there may be a requirement to travel occasionally to our other UK office locations.
