Mint People is seeking a skilled and committed Training Manager to join our team at in Birmingham, a Category B men's prison responsible for providing meals to approximately 1,000 inmates daily. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting directly to the on-site General Manager. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing all food and food safety training within the facility.

Our Client is renowned for delivering exceptional contract catering services across a diverse range of sectors, including Defence, Judicial, Private Industry, and Education. We pride ourselves on having some of the finest culinary and catering professionals in the UK as part of our team.

Please note: Successful candidates will be required to undergo a full vetting check before commencing employment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Training Delivery:
    • Conduct food safety and allergen training for inmates working in the kitchen and catering areas.
    • Ensure all prisoners working with Mint People receive proper induction training.
    • Provide training on health and hygiene practices, as well as the safe use of kitchen equipment.
    • Deliver manual handling and NVQ training as required.
  • Training Management:
    • Maintain up-to-date training records, including the induction and training matrix.
    • Perform practical demonstrations and provide hands-on coaching and mentoring.
    • Identify and address any additional training needs for staff and prisoners.
    • Coordinate training activities and manage relevant training administration.
    • Track and register learners for NVQs, ensuring compliance with registration requirements.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Conduct monthly safety checks across all areas.
    • Meet monthly KPIs and provide regular training statistics.
Key Requirements:
  • Strong background in food preparation and safety, with experience working in a kitchen environment.
  • Level 3 Food Safety qualification.
  • Proven experience in training and developing individuals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to be patient and resilient.
  • Experience delivering Food Safety, Manual Handling, and NVQs.
  • Must hold PTTLS & TAQA qualifications and have relevant experience.
