Cambridge, United Kingdom Prospectral Full time

We are hiring a Spectral Computer Vision Scientist as a member of our founding team, who is not only highly proficient in their field but crucially also thrives in the dynamic environment of an early-stage company. This role is for someone who is enthusiastic, self-driven, and excited by the fast-paced nature of technology development in a start-up. This person clearly must be analytical but also creative and adaptable, who is motivated by learning on the fly in order to engineer solutions to new problems. If you’re passionate about pushing the boundaries of imaging technologies and are ready to take on a leading role in developing the computer vision element of our solution, we’d love to hear from you, even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements listed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the development and implementation of computer vision and materials classification solutions based around our imaging sensor platform.
  • Collaborate closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop data processing solutions and pipelines across our wider research and development functions.
  • Contribute to shaping the overall data strategy and product roadmap.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Master's or PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Data Science or a related subject.
  • Fluency in Python, R or another relevant language.
  • Proven proficiency in development of pipelines and processing solutions for analysis of large real-world datasets, ideally derived from scientific / physical measurements.
  • Hands-on experience of implementing computer vision systems; working with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
  • Experience developing scalable machine learning frameworks to extract meaningful insights from large datasets.
  • Strong, efficient technical communication skills, with ability to clearly present and discuss plans, concepts and conclusions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of programming as part of a team.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Background knowledge of optical physics and spectroscopy
  • Familiarity with the implementation of Deep Learning-based image analysis.
  • Experience in designing material classification algorithms based on spectral or imaging datasets. Proficiency in C/C++.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary with potential for growth as well as joining the company’s EMI Options Scheme.
  • Opportunities for professional development, including experience and learning around the non-technical / business elements of start-up growth.
  • If desired, opportunities to take on a team leadership role as the company grows.
  • Flexible working arrangements, including potential for some remote work.
  • The opportunity to be a significant part of a small, dynamic and fast-paced team of scientists and engineers working at the cutting edge of imaging technology.
