We are working on behalf of a Chartered Insurance Underwriting company with many years’ experience in the market. They are looking for an Underwriting Support Specialist to join their team in Bury St Edmunds. This role is a great opportunity for a candidate with strong administration skills to provide efficient and effective technical and administrative support to the underwriting teams.

The successful candidate will be supported through professional development and will be assisted in studying for professional CII qualifications.

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate underwriting data is captured on systems to minimize risk and ensure high quality output of information
  • Support underwriting through general administration to ensure delivery of a professional service
  • Field both internal and external phone calls from Brokers and clients
  • Develop your technical knowledge to take on more complex tasks over time
  • Running daily print procedures for emailing documents as well as printing documents, and preparing the post.
  • Complete renewal chasing process to ensure retention is as high as possible and clients and Brokers are aware of their renewal
  • Making contact with clients who pay annually to collect their premiums and secure the business.
  • Chasing broker partners by email on the status of cover extensions and for information required to quote.
  • Create and edit documents manually as required

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s at grade A-C, including English and Maths
  • Computer literate
  • System data entry experience and processes would be beneficial
  • Rational approach to complex data
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Accurate and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent proactive organisation skills and ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Sound mathematical skills with the ability to analyse complex data and statistics
  • Creative thinker, curious and ready to challenge the status quo
  • An appetite for achievement and building a career within the insurance market
