Role Brief:

Principal Project Controllers operate as individual contributors who provide support to more senior members of the IDT and PMO. Experience is likely to have been acquired through practical, 'on the job' training and role holders will typically have just qualified for/working towards a professional qualification. Individuals work with minimal supervision, solving problems that are moderately complex.


Accountabilities

  • Typically demonstrating the accountabilities in:
  • Small to medium sized contracts (LCM2 to LCM3)
  • Packages within larger contracts (LCM4)
  • Projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Projects with medium risk


Typical Accountabilities:

  • Introductory leadership skills through task management, coaching and mentoring;
  • Project support to IDTs and other large and complex strategic programmes;
  • Service Delivery and performance of project teams with assigned IDTs or programmes;
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other members of the PCP&R and wider Delivery Support function;
  • A good understanding of project finances and reporting metrics;
  • Contribute to the design and improvement of a project support capability and process.

  • Accuracy and timeliness of reports/analysis
  • Compliance with project and planning processes and tools
  • Prioritisation of workload/coordination of activities
  • Working with a minimal level of supervision
  • Quality of project updates and information communicated
  • Internal and/or external customer feedback
  • Documented internal recognition as key point of contact for Project/Function


Knowledge, Capabilities & Experience

  • Working knowledge of project management principles and how project control activities underpin them;
  • Sharing knowledge, skills and best practice across business;
  • Demonstrable competence in SAP, MS Excel (including add-ins), Word, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint and SharePoint;
  • Good organisational and record keeping skills with ability to prioritise workload and multitask;
  • Awareness of the project lifecycle, project finances and sales processes;
  • Intermediate process management skills;
  • Recognised expert in a number of project support activities and tools;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at varying levels;
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised.
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE level (to included English and Mathematics);
  • Competence against the agreed Project Controls Competency Framework at a level of Foundation or APMP Introduction Certificate desirable
