Senior Scientist in Translational Pathology OncologyWe are seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Translational Pathology group in Oncology R&D Translational Medicine department where you will be at the forefront of the evolution of translational science for a global oncology group in AstraZenecaYou will have the opportunity to impact an industry-leading portfolio of programs from early clinical development of novel therapeutics through to post-marketing opportunities that support approved targeted therapies.At AstraZeneca we work together across global boundaries to make an impact and find answers to challenges. We continuously forge partnerships that help pursue world-class medicines in new ways combining our peoples exceptional skills with those of people from all over the globeMajor Responsibilities and Accountabilities:This role is a lab-based position working in a Good Clinical Practice (GCP) environment.In this role you will be using the best available science and technology to execute routine biomarker analysis and interpret and communicate the data as part of a matrix team. Your work will inform clinical decisions for selecting therapeutically relevant doses and schedules as well as building our understanding of key cancer pathway interactions to guide rational drug combinations. In addition your work will help define novel mechanisms of resistance to targeted therapies by studying tumours at relapse.Skills and experience:BSc or MSc in a relevant scientific discipline with 3 years industry experienceExperience in manual or automated immunohistochemistry (brightfield or fluorescence)Experience in microtomyExperience working to Good Clinical PracticeExperience in development and validation of biomarker assaysExperience working with human tissues and tissue-based histopathology methodsKnowledge or experience in one or more AZ portfolio areas: tumour drivers and resistance DNA damage response (DDR) immuno-oncology (IO) and antibody drug conjugates (ADC)Experience of tracking and/or managing human tissues using sample tracking software (e.g. BSI SAPIO Azenta etc.)Highly organized and self-motivatedAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team to deliver to projectsStrong written and oral communication skillsStrong ability to troubleshooting and critically analyse dataDesirable/Advantageous Although training will be given experience in the following areas would provide a distinct advantagePrevious pharmaceutical industry experienceExperience with digital image analysis solutions (e.g. ImageJ HALO Visiopharm etc)Skills in developing multiplexed immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridization (ISH) assaysCareer exposure to the pharmaceutical industry and the drug development processAstraZeneca offers an environment where courage curiosity and collaboration thrive.
