About the Service

Age UK Birmingham and Sandwell is a local branch of the Age UK charity, serving the Birmingham and Sandwell areas in the United Kingdom. We provide various services and support for older people, including social activities, advice on health and well-being, and assistance with benefits and finances.

About the Role

A volunteer administrator will assist project managers in our head office with any administration tasks to effectively run the services our organization has in place. The needs will change and therefore will be a varied role.

Specific tasks may include:

  • Perform data entry, filing, and maintaining records.
  • Answer and direct phone calls and emails.
  • Schedule appointments and meetings.
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized office environment.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Welcome visitors to the building and ensure signing in.
  • Provide support to staff members as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.

Personal qualities and skills most suited to this role

  • Excellent communication skill to enable clear and professional communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong literacy and basic numeracy skills with the ability to write clear notes and records
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft package
  • Ensure accuracy in tasks like data entry and document preparation with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with problem-solving.
  • Dependable.
  • Good understanding of confidentiality.
