The Strategy,Planning & Projects Team (SPP) is a hard-working and upbeatteam, comprising around 50 roles focused on two majorareas:

  1. ‘Strategy,Planning & Change’, responsible for advising theTreasury’s Executive Management Board (EMB), and Ministers, ondepartmental strategy, performance, andrisk,
  2. ‘StrategicProjects’, a flexible resource of approximately 40staff that provides rapid support to the highest priority areas ofHM Treasurywork.


Aboutthe role

As a Strategy and PolicyAdviser, you'll be joining a creative, welcoming team, which leadson or supports many of the department’s biggest priorities. Youwill also have the opportunity to work closely with, and influence,senior partners. You'll have visibility and impact over the breadthof the department’s work, and to be at the centre ofdecision-making on HM Treasury’s future.


Keyaccountabilities

  • Leadresponsibility for key pieces of departmental risk management,including the design and delivery of HM Treasury’s QuarterlyPerformance and Risk Report (QPRR), to enable senior strategicdecision-making and discussion at senior boards.
  • To scope, plan and deliver a cross-cuttingproject to problem tackle how sophisticated processes can besimplified and digitalised to integrate the team’s resourcing, riskand delivery functions and processes effectively. Leadingimplementation and ongoing operations of the new system
  • Coordinating implementation of the Treasury’snew Surge Resourcing capacity, to ensure the Treasury is able tomove resources rapidly whennecessary
  • Prioritising, planning and deliveringprojects on a wide variety of issues affecting the department.Approximately 40% of the role is dedicated to high prioritytime-limited projects across theteam
  • Supporting the monthly Directors’ Forum,which brings together Directors from every part of the departmentto provide strategic input and feedback on priority issues andprojects
  • Playing an active role in making theteam, Group and department a great place to work and delivering itscorporate objectives. We’re a flexible team and respond to theneeds of Ministers and senior officials, so portfolios can and willchange over time
