About the Role

Reporting into our NPD Manager we have a fantastic opportunity to join our product development consultancy business as a Product Developer. You will be developing products for start-ups, challenger brands as well as global brands, responding to client briefs to create exciting new products that reflect the latest trends. You will work closely with marketing, consumer insights and brand design to support your innovation projects.


You will interface with clients and lead projects from initial kick off to project delivery, delivering against the customer brief, timeline and budget. Your ingredients, nutrition and technical knowledge will be crucial in your success.


What you'll be doing

  • Own projects from ‘Project kick-off’ to ‘Project completion’
  • Interface with clients
  • Deliver against the project brief & manage the critical path
  • Complete feasibility studies
  • Create kitchen prototypes (inc. benchmarking, ingredient sourcing / costings / nutrition / HFSS calculations / delivery of claims e.g. high in protein, immunity, vegan)
  • Conduct manufacturing / co-packing searches
  • Source packaging for new concepts
  • Create legal back of pack labelling information
  • Conduct shelf-life testing - organoleptic & microbiological testing
  • Support factory trials and 1st productions
  • Provide technical product advice to clients
  • Liaise with supporting teams; Marketing, Consumer Testing & Brand Design
  • Manage projects using an internal project management system


What we're looking for

  • A passionate foodie with a degree in Food Science or Nutrition
  • Eexperience as a product developer / development chef / food technologist
  • Technical knowledge on ingredients, health & nutrition claims and manufacturing processes
  • Good knowledge of functional ingredients
  • Problem solving skills in recipe development
  • Product costing experience
  • Experience of creating legal back of pack labelling
  • Sensory evaluation skills
  • Experience in a customer / client-facing role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, able to build and maintain customer relationships
  • Excellent IT skills e.g. Google suite, Nutrition software
