This initiative is part of a wider programme tackling climate change and improving public health through better understanding of indoor air quality in homes.As a Community Ambassador you will help raise awareness of the project locally support the recruitment of residents into the study and contribute to the delivery of community engagement activities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is locally connected interested in health or environmental issues and confident engaging with a wide range of people.Main DutiesAct as a local point of contact for the WM-Net Zero project in Brockmoor.Support the recruitment of local residents to participate in the Indoor Air Quality study.Promote the project through informal conversations community groups local events and social media.Assist with the organisation and delivery of engagement activities including drop-ins workshops and public events.Gather informal feedback from residents and share insights with the project team.Ensure that engagement activities are inclusive and representative of the local community.Person SpecificationEssentialStrong and demonstrable connections to the wider Dudley area.Confident and approachable communicator comfortable engaging with diverse audiences.Interest in public health housing environmental issues or climate action.Reliable self-motivated and able to manage tasks independently.Willing to contribute a small number of hours each month including occasional evening or weekend activities.Ability to work collaboratively with other Community Ambassadors and the wider project team.DesirableExperience supporting or participating in community projects events or campaigns.Basic knowledge of issues relating to indoor air quality sustainability or environmental justice.Confidence using digital tools such as email WhatsApp or social media for local outreach.Additional InformationSupport and BenefitsFull paid induction and training provided by the WM-Net Zero team.Ongoing support and regular check-ins throughout the duration of the role.Opportunities to develop skills in communication public engagement and project delivery.Recognition for your contribution to a research initiative aiming to improve health and sustainability outcomes in your community.You can learn more about the project here: any informal queries please contact ()View our staff values and behaviourshereValuing excellence sustaining investmentWe value diversity and inclusion at the University of Birmingham and welcome applications from all sections of the community and are open to discussions around all forms of flexible working.The University of Birmingham restricts all students to working up to 20 hours per week during term time.
