The Education Division has overall responsibility for the council’s strategy to improve educational outcomes for children and young people. The Division acts as the champion for all children and young people, especially those who are vulnerable to underachievement, and works in partnership across early years, primary, secondary, special and post 16 education.

About the role

The APST Coordinator role is being developed as part of the SEND and AP Change Programme that East Sussex local authority is part of. The post is responsible for the operational direction and co-ordination of a multi-agency staff team who will work collaboratively to support targeted interventions and positive outcomes for children and young people.

Reporting to the Senior Manager: SEND and AP Change Programme, you will be responsible for leading the APST in response to the government’s ‘SEND and Alternative Provision (AP) Implementation Plan.’ This role requires the post holder to work with the leadership team at East Sussex Academy as well as key colleagues in ESCC.

Fixed term until 31 August 2025 (in the first instance).
